6th Week - Fish Garden

This week in AutoCAD, We learned some more techniques that will allow for the creation of more complex designs (blue prints). A grow light was donated to the class for use with the hydroponics gardens when they are complete. The idea of making an aquaponics garden was also introduced which mean that the reservoir that contains the nutrient water would instead house fish which will fertilize the plants. If an aquaponics garden is implemented it will not happen until much later as, but would only require slight modifications to the current design.

5th Week - Safety First

This week in AutoCAD, The class took some general safety tests as we will start working with tools, like the miter saw, that if not handled properly can result in injuries. The former plan of making a hydroponics garden that encircles the room has been scrapped as we will now be sharing the room with a second group. Our groups new plan is to make a zig zag design with PVC pipes that goes upward thereby allowing for plenty of space for two groups.

4th Week - Gears and Gardens

This week in AutoCAD, I worked on making more complex drawings, like the gear in the picture above. The gear was made entirely of circle which were placed in specific location with the help of construction lines. Then using the trim tool I removed all the excess lines to achieve the finished gear. The image below is the start of a new design for a hydroponics garden. The U shape is a box will wrap around the room and hold the plants inside of it. The bottom of the box will have a subtle slope, so the the nutrient solution won't need to be pumped the entire way through the system. Instead, i will be counting on gravity to pull the nutrient solution from the upper most part of the box down to the base which will keep all the plants nice healthy and happy.

3rd Week - AutoCAD Workbench

This week in AutoCAD I made a basic table using lines and rectangles. specifying the exact dimensions of the shape. I learned how to create and move objects to different layers which allows for the separation of certain parts of the drawing and also for the changing of the individual layer's color. Using the annotating tool I added the red notes to the drawing in order to show the exact lengths of the lines which can be seen in the picture above.
